Based on current youth baseball and Little League trends and reinforced by overwhelming support in a survey sent to members in the applicable divisions, the PCLL Board of Directors has voted to switch from Machine Pitch to a Coach Pitch/Modified Kid Pitch game play format in the 7 and 8-year-old division.

The change will take effect beginning with the spring 2023 season.

While gameplay rules and regulations have yet to be finalized, players in the 7 and 8-year-old division can expect about half the game to be Coach Pitch and the other half to be a Modified Kid Pitch gameplay, where players will have an opportunity to throw a select number of pitches in-game. Per the Modified format, once the player pitcher throws four balls, the Coach will come in and finish the at-bat pitching.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey to help us come to this decision. We will still provide coaches with the machines upon request in case they want to practice batting with them in practice. Machines can also be aligned to throw ground balls and pop ups as well.

Registration for PCLL’s 2023 spring season opens this Friday, November 25.
